::Desolate's Diary::

Desolate's Diary

Lovely forlorn eyes
Scanning bakery shop
Growling empty belly
Screaming nonstop

Coarse little hands
Searches the trash
Stumbles on a burger
Gobbles-up in flash

Under midnight blue
Scrounging for life
Glass-piece crept into
Grub relied to survive

  5. Oh my God.. the last 2 lines were really scary and sad...
    The poem was melancholy, VERY TRUE, and beautiful, Rajlakshmi! And the little girl image here is so innocent and pretty.. yet, what dreadful story lies behind those pure eyes, is only for her to know and ignore..
    When poverty strikes, everything looks grim.. phew!

  6. I look at the pic of the little girl and read your words—heartbreaking to know so many children go hungry and uncared for. Beautiful poetic sensitivity in your lines.

  7. Tragic. The juxtaposition of your poignant words with the photo of this little girl was very effective! Very sad!
