Lapping Waves

Coaxing whispers of lapping waves,
serenade me once more,
as I hop down the winter-borne streets,
splashing puddles on rain kissed pavements.

The receding voices nudge to me twirl,
and swirl with cold evening breeze,
to break free from perceptions and
the routine of a silent day.

The ships have longed sailed by,
leaving behind lapping waves,
Afar I watch the sun slowly sink,
perhaps it winked at me too.

The apartment was damp,
lit in sepia colour of yesteryears,
lost in a solitary trance,

But today, I hummed a tune, and lit candles.
I glanced at you, and perhaps today, you smiled back too.
